HER WARDROBE IS GETTING A MELBOURNE HQ
Posted: May 27 2015
I wanted to share with you all, a little journey I have been on for the past month. It has involved painting, building, some heavy lifting and a teaspoon of courage.
Last night I began packing up our current showroom which is also affectionately known as my spare bedroom. 2x rails of dresses, 2x boxes of stationary, 1x desk and a steamer. That was it. All packed up in a corner ready to be transported to our new HQ in Kensington (just 10mins outside Melbourne CBD).
The process of securing and designing a showroom has been utterly exciting. I mean what girl doesn't love looking at paint swatches and furniture on Pinterest - but what I didn't expect was the butterflies that touched down in my stomach at 9pm last night. I have spent every weekend since April in this showroom getting it prepared for the move, and yet it was only last night that I started to get nervous.
What if no one can find it? What if its too cold in there? Is the lighting going to be right? Will I miss working from home? What if it all looks terrible when its finished? Every excuse under the sun, I conjured it up. Which is crazy because I am only moving to a space twice the size of a bedroom, it is 150m from my house, and I know it will be fabulous to host all of our lovely customers in a dedicated HW HQ.
But that's how the brain works, doesn't it. When we are on the brink of change, or faced with a step that takes a little bit of courage we begin to doubt our ability to succeed. A little while back, I posted this quote on Facebook: "If it is still in your mind. It is worth taking the risk." Rather than focussing on how nervous I was about the move, I forced myself to focus on how excited I had been over the month prior. That was the feeling I needed to hold on to, not the illogical ones that had just crept in.
And so, just like that I moved in.
Now, it is still a work in progress, so I won't show you too many pictures, but here are a few of its transformation so far. I am really looking forward to dressing you all in this new space soon!! Stay tuned.
