5 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT RENTING A DRESS

Posted: May 09 2016

There are five questions she gets asked regularly at Her Wardrobe. Here are the answers...

1. HOW DOES IT WORK?

Unlike some other dress rental stores, all dresses, millinery and bags can be booked online at Her Wardrobe.
Simply click the 'HIRE A DRESS' or 'HIRE MILLINERY' tab in the main menu bar, and browse through a selection of our current stock. You can filter by size, colour and style. Once you find an item you love, click through and 'Choose your Delivery Date'. We recommend 1-2 days before your event, so if you are going out on Saturday night, Friday is the perfect delivery date. It is here on the drop down calendar that you can easily check the availability of the item you have chosen.

2. HOW DO I KNOW IT WILL FIT?

The easiest way is to try it on first! We offer fittings at our studio in Kensington, VIC. Simply email confessions@herwardrobe.com.au to book an appointment, we can accommodate after hours and weekends to suit your schedule. Or you can always go into your local department store or boutique and try it on there.
There is also personalised sizing information and tips included with every dress description, so keep an eye out for those.
Finally, if you are located outside of Melbourne we do offer a Try On Service, where we can post a dress to you to try first. Simply email confessions@herwardrobe.com.au to organise.

3. WHAT IF THE DRESS GETS DAMAGED?

*Touch Wood*  To date, we have had very few dresses badly stained or damaged, and only one dress which had to be retired from the collection. We know that our customers really enjoy the opportunity to wear these gorgeous designer dresses, and so they look after them. We also have a close relationship with our dry cleaners who are fantastic at lifting those unavoidable party stains!
Tips for avoiding disastrous damage:
  • Steer clear of those red wine drinkers!
  • Always lift the hem of your gowns up when walking from the car to the venue.
  • Avoid wearing jewellery which could catch on the fabric.
  • Get a spray tan 1-2 days before to avoid those self tanning stains.
  • Don't wear spray on deodorant, this is what causes yellow stains around the armpits of fabric. Roll-on is your new best friend!
If a dress is damaged beyond repair you are liable for its replacement cost which is advertised under each product.

4. WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR DRESSES FROM?

Her Wardrobe purchases dresses, millinery and bags wholesale from our designers, just like a traditional boutique would. This allows us to not only offer competitive rental prices, but build in the postage and dry cleaning costs too. There is nothing worse than falling in love with something online, only to find out at the checkout it is going to cost you an extra $40 to have it delivered!
We will also from time to time add one off pieces that we love. If there is a dress you are dying to rent, then send her an email at confessions@herwardrobe.com.au and she will look into adding it to Her Wardrobe.

5. DO YOU PLAN ON STOCKING MORE LABELS?

Absolutely! We spend a large portion of our days emailing/calling/cyber stalking designers to invite them to come onboard with Her Wardrobe. It can be hard at times to convince them that rental is the way of the future (as we all know it is). But, we can assure you we are dedicated to expanding our wardrobe to include all your favourite labels.
If there is a label you would love to see stocked on Her Wardrobe email confessions@herwardrobe.com.au to let us know!
